custard cream buns (recipe)
Custard cream buns
These light and fluffy custard cream buns are perfect for a
summer picnic or an afternoon tea. The recipe is easy to follow, and the buns
can be made ahead of time, meaning you can enjoy them fresh out of the oven.
Ingredients
- 1 batch of sweet dough
- 1 cup of custard filling
- 1/2 cup of icing sugar
What to do
- To make the custard filling, simply combine 1 cup of custard powder with 1 cup of milk. Stir until the mixture is smooth, then set it aside to cool.
- To assemble the buns, roll out the sweet dough on a floured surface. Cut out 12 rounds using a biscuit cutter. Place a spoonful of custard filling in the center of each round, then fold the dough over to enclose the filling. Pinch the edges of the dough together to seal.
- Place the buns on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, then brush the tops with a little milk. Bake at 200 degrees Celsius for 12-15 minutes, or until the buns are golden brown.
- Once the buns are out of the oven, dust them with icing sugar. Serve warm or at room temperature. Enjoy!
