Swedish meatballs (recipe)

Swedish meatballs

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 tsp. ground allspice
  • 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper
  • 2 tbsp. butter
  • 2 tbsp. all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups beef broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh par

What to do:

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  • In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, allspice, nutmeg, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until fully combined.
  • Roll the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
  • Heat butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove meatballs from skillet and place them in a baking dish.
  • In the same skillet, add all-purpose flour and whisk it with the butter until it turns golden brown.
  • Gradually add beef broth, heavy cream, and Worcestershire sauce to the skillet, whisking constantly until the mixture is fully combined and thickened.
  • Pour the sauce over the meatballs in the baking dish.
  • Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes.
  • Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
