Swedish meatballs (recipe)
Swedish meatballs
Ingredients:
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1/4 tsp. ground allspice
- 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. black pepper
- 2 tbsp. butter
- 2 tbsp. all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups beef broth
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh par
What to do:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F.
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg,
allspice, nutmeg, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until fully combined.
- Roll the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
- Heat butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add meatballs and
cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove meatballs from
skillet and place them in a baking dish.
- In the same skillet, add all-purpose flour and whisk it with the
butter until it turns golden brown.
- Gradually add beef broth, heavy cream, and Worcestershire sauce to the
skillet, whisking constantly until the mixture is fully combined and
thickened.
- Pour the sauce over the meatballs in the baking dish.
- Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes.
- Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
