Ingredients                                 

  • 1 chicken breast, cut into strips.
  • 1 cup of buttermilk
  • 1 cup of flour
  • 2 tablespoons of cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of paprika
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1 cup of vegetable oil

To make the sauce, you will need:

  • 1/2 cup of cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon of paprika
  • 1 tablespoon of garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon of salt
  • 1/2 tablespoon of black pepper

What to do

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees.
  2. In a bowl, combine the buttermilk, chicken strips, and 1 tablespoon of the cayenne pepper. Let the chicken strips marinate in the buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.
  3. In a shallow dish, combine the flour, 2 tablespoons of cayenne pepper, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Dip the chicken strips in the flour mixture, making sure each strip is evenly coated.
  5. In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  6. Fry the chicken strips in the vegetable oil until they are golden brown and cooked through, about 4 minutes per side.
  7. To make the sauce, combine the cayenne pepper, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper in a small saucepan.
  8. Cook the sauce over low heat, stirring occasionally, until it is thick and bubbly.
  9. To assemble the sandwiches, place a chicken strip on a hamburger bun and top with the sauce. Serve immediately.
